Canadian song stylist, jazz singer and multi-Juno Award winner Holly Cole has made a name for herself as one of the most inspired and inspiring contemporary interpreters of popular song for over twenty years. She has charted an international career that includes seven Gold and Platinum albums, numerous awards and some of the finest and most engaging vocal work in the studio and in concert. Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Cole left for Toronto in search of a musical start in 1983. She formed the Holly Cole Trio with bassist David Piltch and pianist Aaron Davis releasing their first album, Christmas Blues in 1989 and their second album, Girl Talk in 1990 followed by five more albums.
Cole introduced pop elements to her sound with the 1997 album, Dark Dear Heart followed by her 2000 album, Romantically Helpless. Earlier this year, her first ever DVD + CD set entitled Steal the Night: Live at the Glenn Gould Studio was released. Both the DVD and the CD feature an assortment of hits and gems from her early trio days to the present. Her most recent album, Night was released last month … the album crosses different corners of the musical spectrum from John Barry’s James Bond theme “You Only Live Twice” to Gordon Lightfoot’s “If You Could Read My Mind”. The new year will see Cole touring in Japan, the US and her native Canada where she’ll be performing a broad selection of fan favourites including “I Can See Clearly Now”, “Calling You” and “Make It Go Away”. Enjoy an evening with Holly Cole when she’ll be appearing at the River Rock Casino Resort on March 23, 2013.
