Few artists have achieved the level of public success and critical acclaim that Burton Cummings has enjoyed in a remarkable career spanning more than forty years. Whether as lead singer and songwriter with The Guess Who or on his own, Cummings has amassed more hit records than just about any other Canadian performer in history. His numerous hits include “Stand Tall”, “I’m Scared”, “Timeless Love”, “Break It To Them Gently” and “I Will Play A Rhapsody”. He has received several Juno Awards including “Most Promising Male Singer” and “Best Male Singer”.
Cummings has also ventured into acting having starred in the 1982 feature film, Melanie which co-starred Don Johnson, Glynnis O’Connor and Paul Sorvino. And although he now resides in Sherman Oaks, California, he still retains ties in Winnipeg where a theatre and a community centre have been named after him and he has been invested in the Order of Manitoba. Additionally he has been inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame and has received a star on Canada’s Walk of Fame. In 2009, he was named an officer of the Order of Canada by Governor General Michaëlle Jean. Cummings still enjoys playing to sold-out audiences and will be performing with his band for one night only at the River Rock Casino Resort on September 27, 2014.
