Born in Tisdale, Saskatchewan, Brent Butt discovered early that being funny was a good way to get attention. Brent honed his comedy in school and at the age of twenty, he moved to the city to pursue a career in stand-up. Within months he was headlining top clubs in Toronto and within a couple of years, he was touring internationally and appearing at major festivals. Brent’s television specials quickly secured his reputation as one of the funniest people in Canada.

In 2003, Brent created his own television series … a sitcom called Corner Gas. It premiered on CTV the following year and ran for six seasons. The show was an instant hit with unprecedented ratings and numerous accolades including an International Emmy Award nomination and was named “Funniest Show on TV” by TV Guide readers. Brent then created a new sitcom for CTV called Hiccups which starred himself and Nancy Robertson. The show went on to win multiple Leo Awards. Currently Brent is developing a new sitcom for television and this fall, he is set to begin filming on his new feature film, No Clue which he wrote and will star in. Aside from film and television production, Brent continues to tour the country performing stand-up and will be appearing at the River Rock Casino Resort on November 23, 2012.
