For almost fifty years, Don Rickles has appeared in top showrooms in Atlantic City, Reno, Lake Tahoe and Las Vegas and is regarded as one of the world’s top comedians. Rickles was born in New York City where as a teenager he performed in high school plays and at neighbourhood dances before working in small nightclubs. His “insult” style which he’s famous for just happened. Two years after his discharge from the U.S. Navy in 1946, he was working in nightclubs ... never a great joke teller in the traditional sense, he suddenly found himself talking directly to the audience and throwing “off the cuff” lines at them. The laughs came and the rest is history. He signed for his first Las Vegas appearance in 1959 but it was on October 7, 1965 that Rickles believes the ball really started rolling when he made his debut on NBC’s “The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.” His freewheeling performance that night became the talk of the show business industry and caused nationwide comment among the press and public. During the span of his career, he has starred in prime-time series for CBS (“The Don Rickles Show”), NBC (“C.P.O. Sharkey”), ABC (“Foul Ups, Bleeps & Blunders”) and FOX (“Daddy Dearest”). Rickles has also been highly visible in motion pictures including the cult classic, Kelly’s Heroes opposite Clint Eastwood, Martin Scorsese’s Casino and the voiceover role of “Mr. Potato Head” in Walt Disney Pictures’ computer animated features, Toy Story and Toy Story 2. In addition, he has starred in several live stage productions and along the way, has had two best-selling comedy albums. Rickles continues to still be active on the stand up comedy scene and has no plans to retire. Last May, his memoir, Rickles’ Book was released by Simon & Schuster and just this past December, “Mr. Warmth: The Don Rickles Project,” a documentary about Rickles which was directed by John Landis premiered on HBO. He and his wife, Barbara, reside in Los Angeles. Tickets on sale Thursday January 31 @ 10am
