Show starts at 08:00 PM September 11, 2008 River Rock Show Theatre
A year after ending his nationally sold-out HOMECOMING TOUR in Vancouver, Russell Peters returns to BC for two special, intimate shows at Richmond’s River Rock Show Theatre and Coquitlam’s Red Robinson Show Theatre. These two shows will be Peters’ only West Coast dates this year. “It’s been a crazy-busy year and as much as I would have liked to have done a national tour, we just couldn’t find the openings in the schedule to do it,” Peters says. “These two shows should be fun. Vancouver’s always been good to me.” In June 2007, Peters became the first comic to sell out Toronto's Air Canada Centre where over 30,000 fans came out to watch him over two nights. In February of this year, Peters achieved a number of milestones in his career ... he sold out the Wamu Theatre at Madison Square Garden where he also recorded his new live DVD/CD, Russell Peters: Red, White and Brown. Two weeks later, he appeared on NBC’s “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” for the first time and then went on to sell out LA’s new Nokia Theatre where he had the second highest attendance record since the theatre opened. A week later he sold out the prestigious Sydney Opera House and went on to perform for over 30,000 fans across Australia. Peters has just wrapped a series of club dates across the US where he’s been working out new material. “Once I put a show on tape or for broadcast, that material is pretty much burned. I have to go back to square one and start working on a new set. It takes a long time to come up with an entirely new show but I’m working on it.” Peters’ appearances at the River Rock Show Theatre and the Red Robinson Show Theatre will feature material from the Homecoming Tour and the upcoming Red, White and Brown release. Red, White and Brown will be distributed by Warner Brothers in Canada and will be released in the fall. It will also be broadcast by Showtime in the US. Peters continues to work on a new animated project, a sitcom for FOX and a variety show.
